Doug Forth
Let’s ask the same question
So last year we asked the question who was Dan BC and for our upcoming Bigway Event at Moruya NSW from 18 to 25 November and in York WA from 2 Dec to 5 Dec, its the same question. Who is Doug Forth?
Anyone with 17,600 skydives has spent considerable time in the air and you would hope after 27 years could share some useful information with us all.
In fact those 17,600 skydives cover a range of disciplines including over 5125 relative jumps, over 7375 Tandems, 1500 AFF and 1500 Video and last but not least 2100 canopy relative work. In addition 100+ hours of tunnel time will sharpen up the average skydivers skills.
Doug holds ratings from the USA, Canada and Australia and is no stranger to our shores competing against Brad Turner in CRW in 1992 and visiting Australia for the CRW world meet in Kooralbyn.
Doug enjoyed his time in Oz so much that he returned to work at Kooralbyn in the summer of 94 and 98. He also worked with Brian Scoffell at Aratula jumping Tandems in down town Brisbane. Doug has jumped at Toogoolawah, Bryon Bay, onto the Gold Coast and can also boast a demo into the infamous O’Reilly’s guesthouse on the Lamington National Plateau. (The following story is legendary in those parts. http://www.chapelhill.homeip.net/FamilyHistory/Other/QueenslandHistory/THESTORYOFTHESTINSONWRECK.htm)
Doug began instructing in 1991 in Skydive Eden North in Canada and four years later was Chief Instructor at the same DZ. He has amassed a range of Instructional and Rigging qualifications throughout his career including the title of Master Rigger from the USA.
In 1996 Doug was the coach of the Canadian Military Demo Team followed by stints as Instructor and Chief Instructor at Skydive Cross Keys. In 2002, Doug was coaching the USA Special Operations Command Demo Team. (I am thinking this is a man you would not want to meet on a dark night.)
Doug has numerous skydiving qualifications and has held some amazing positions over the years.
Doug has a passion for formation skydiving – did I tell you he has been a National Champion 14 times, has 12 World Records, and 24 State, National and International Records. There’s more. He was a sector captain on the 300 way record as well as sector captain on the 202 sequential way.
What can I say the man can skydive and this was evident in his coaching at the Bigway event in Perris in 2015. If you have not participated in Doug’s tracking seminar then you are in for a treat.
Doug’s passion extends from 8 ways (selected in 2006 on the USA FS 8 Way Team) & 16 ways to coaching Bigways. He has been an integral part of the P3 team commencing with them in 2005. Dough maintains a variety of coaching positions in Canada and the USA including the past 11 years as a Civilian Freefall Instructor with the Canadian Land Advance Warfare Centre in Trenton Canada. (I did warn you about that dark night)
This is a wonderful opportunity to jump with, be coached by, share a beer with, learn a great deal from and personally meet a skydiver who has credentials a mile long, a list that most of us could only hope to dream about.
So the invites are out, you need to save money, you need to save the dates 18 -25 November 2016 NSW – 2 Dec – 5 Dec WA. At some point you will be required to register your interest so that you can rub shoulders or should I say take grips with another quality international coach facilitating skydives in an environment of learning and fun. Go Doug!!!!
