WA Mentor Update November 2016

Is it Spring Yet??

I know that this first sentence seems like a recording that has got jammed, but the weather has really not been allowing us to play in the sky for the past few months.  Good job I decided to go to the USA to participate in the POPs World Record jumps at Skydive Perris with a group of Aussies as well as a whole load of others.

While I was away Steve Hogden, Joe Rummy Clarke and Red Ferguson held the fort and continued the regular load organising for FS jumpers at Skydive York.  This guarantees that every weekend there are FS activities happening at the York DZ.  It might be anything from a one-on-one, for a newly qualified B certificate jumper, to a non-contact 4 way, getting people to think about flying their own bodies and not relying on grips, or a Star Crest load (camera by Stu Barton) or even an experienced 10 way.

The end of October saw all the FS jumpers scrambling to become part of a team for the WA State Championships, which will take place 4 to 7 November 2016.  I’m really pleased that this year we have three intermediate 8-way teams competing with Riss Anderson ground coaching for 4 way and 8 way.  The FI Funded 8 way development camps seem to have paid off.  Look out for next month when I’ll give you a run down on how the 8 way competition went.
