Vic Mentor Update – February 2017

Vic Mentor Update - February 2017

Victorian Skydivers have welcomed the summer weather and taken to the skies with great fanfare commencing with the Aussie Bigways  Dan BC camp held in early December at Skydive Nagambie.

Over  30 plus Victorians were involved, either flying the flag in the air or providing ground support in a range of roles. A good time was held by all with some happy record holders as well.

New Year was celebrated in style amongst the DZ’s with a range of different events including the opportunity to get airborne in a Super Caravan at Barwon with the Fly Hard Boogie.  More New Year celebrations in style at Nagambie and a belated Christmas Party at Tooradin on the 14 & 15 January produced some very nice 8 ways.

The star crests series have provided plenty of opportunities for skill improvement with people participating in the December and January events at Nagambie, Barwon and Tooradin DZ’s.

Upcoming Star Crest events include 11 February with Christian at Skydive Nagambie, 18 February with Kelly at Barwon Heads and 25 February with J9 at Tooradin.

If you are a wanting to learn from the best and improve your camera skills then you can’t go past a camera course with Shane Sparkes from 24 to 26 Feb.

As I write this we are heading into the Australia day weekend with the Coast 2 Coast event coached by James Boyle. The forecast is looking good so here’s to a great event.

Wishing everyone the  Best of Bigways  for the coming year – here’s to blue skies, great skydives and safe landings throughout 2017.

‘I was on the point of cutting the cord that suspended me between heaven and earth… and measured with my eye the vast space that separated me from the rest of the human race… I felt myself precipitated with a velocity that was checked by the sudden unfolding of my parachute.~André-Jacques Garnerin, 1797′
