VIC Mentor Update for Nagambie February 2018
by admin
Summer in Nagambie has come in with a vengeance, with 40+degree temperatures becoming the order of the day. That has not deterred eager beaver skydivers to come and play on bigways.
Just before Christmas, we saw a day of 12 ways being load organised by Sarah Brown. The group was doing fun and challenging skydives, and despite exhausting heat conditions, we managed to get through 5 ‘cool’ jumps by mid-afternoon, allowing some of us to get in a refreshing swim in Nagambie Lake, before the Christmas party kicked off with a nice spit roast dinner and plenty of cool beverages.
In January saw a Star Crest day, organised by yours truly, in which a group of 10 bigway jumpers gathered to see Helena finish off her third and final Star Crest on the first jump of the day, having successfully completed the first two SC jumps a couple of months earlier. This allowed us to add an extra player for a couple of 11-ways. The jumps were fun and challenging, but I think we peaked early in the quality department, because as the day and heat once again wore on, the jumps became less tidy, with exhaustion setting in quickly, in 41 degrees heat. We got 5 jumps done, and everyone was satisfied.
At the final debrief, I conveyed once more some basic info about our bigway journey to Perris in 2019, and reminded the group that whoever is even remotely interested in going to Perris, should contact our team captain with an “ expression of interest” email. If you haven’t done so, this is again a timely reminder, otherwise, thank you! Email gregorykjack@gmail.com
Keep an eye open for more monthly Star Crest days, being organised by the DZ as load organizers become available. Tentative dates are set right up to July and are in our calendar. Of course there is the Nationals in March and Pops World Meet in April, so plenty of opportunity to do some great Rel skydiving and fun Bigways, to stay current and get ready for Perris in 2019!
As always, wishing you Blue Skies,
Christian
