VIC Mentor Update December 2016

VIC Mentor Update December 2016

So spring and summer arrived in Victoria retreated, then returned with enough jumpable weather to showcase some great skydives including sequential loads & star crests at Nagambie, the State Championships at Tooradin and star crests at Barwon Heads.

Firstly, a big thanks to Dave and Tracey for the coaching weekend at Nagambie despite the challenging winds on the first day.  With eight jumps away by the end of the weekend both teams were provided with excellent coaching and noticeably improved their skills.

Dave’s summary, ” In a nutshell, I truly think we all made some gains in improving our personal skydiving skills. From the first jump to the last jump, I think everyone without exception showed that small improvements on each jump contribute tremendously to the success of each group. Focusing on one major item, getting to the first point as fast and precise and we can, showed improvement. Then, as each of us are working on one specific skill to improve, we gain expertise! We become better skydivers. We have more fun. We get confidence to do better and tackle slots that we thought we couldn’t do before.
Let’s keep jumping, and practicing, and remember one improvement per jump only!! Practice makes perfect is what they say, and I look forward to jumping with each of you very soon at Dan BC event. Whoo Hoo…”

Nagambie welcomed another Star Crester Paul under Christian’s load organising tuition.

Four teams braved the wintery weather at Tooradin and managed to get the Victorian Tasmanian State Champs completed with 3 rounds of 4 Way on the Saturday. Congrats to all the teams, there were plenty of Bigway players holding slots on all four teams. Thanks to Craig Vaughan who provided expert tuition and guidance.

Impressively Ryan Weatherly, Jamie Stevens, David Shen, Peter Robinson, Redeat Abraha, and Jamie Webster were the six successful Star Cresters recruited to the bigway fold at Barwon Heads on Nov 19/20.  Kelly Brennan assisted by John Winkler noted their  jumps included some very impressive multi-point 9 and 10 ways helped out by some wonderful big way players.  Gav Dell’Oro, member of the record breaking 16-way team IT’LL HAPPEN dusted off his rig to play.

Events to keep an eye out for in December include

FLY HARD BOOGIE at Barwon Heads (Dec 28 to Jan 2) with 2 turbines for bigway shenanigans. Kelly will be Load Organising flat stuff during the event.
