Ramblers Toogoolawah hosted another excellent event last weekend, with a large group working on advanced RW skills under the inimitable David Loncasty.

Ben did an excellent job on camera all weekend and provide great material for debriefs. Also thank you to Toogoolawah Skydivers Club for assisting with jump tickets for our coach. Special mention of Luke Morley and Holly Ahern who showed great improvement over the weekend.” Martin.

Following is a recap from David Loncasty to the participants after the successful Bigway jumping weekend:

What a fun weekend we had! All the cool kids were there. We started out not really knowing how each other flew and the first load was a successful 14way with 3 points.

We started out on Saturday morning dirt diving and reviewing the basic concepts of successful RW. Fly to your slot, stop and dock… Taking our time dirt diving help us succeed to achieve our objectives. Our fall rate was consistent and each load saw improvement. Some met down at Toogs hotel for a feed and drink after a great day of jumping.

Sunday we reviewed skills presented the day before…. fly to your slot, stop and dock. We made five loads on Sunday of ~10ways. We really had fun on Sunday too with everyone showing improvement both from now being jump current and also using the RW concepts we overviewed on Saturday…. The last jump was a pearla 9way. So much fun!

To summarise, everyone saw improvement and is going away with skills to work on. Video from Ben Nordkamp showing from exit to breakoff enabled us to thoroughly debrief and learn. Thanks Ben! Tracey was there providing logistics and much needed manifesting. Thanks Tracey! And again, Macca and Alley were most gracious hosts for the weekend. Macca joined us for the Saturday sunset load and last out, after a chat with the pilot, he beat a couple jumpers to the formation and into his slot…. Thanks Dave! Martin Klapper’s great work was awesome and we look forward to his next event and the resultant skilled-up skydivers we can jump with in the future on record attempts.
