How to Prepare for Doug Forth’s Event

How to Prepare for Doug Forth's Event

What can I do to prepare myself for

Doug Forth’s Bigway Event?

Stay Current

Keeping current in skydiving yields huge benefits; gaining new skills and keeps you using all the good stuff you have already learned. Currency builds muscle memory.  Non-current jumpers are not as sharp, and lose precision. The best way to stay current is to plan to make a certain number of jumps per year, and keep on track.

4way & 8way Events

Join in on local and state 4way and 8way events and keep skydiving.  Repetition of the core skills will strengthen your muscle memory of the basic rules to Bigway flying.

Star Crest Events

An introduction to Bigway flying, why not join in and assist others to gain their Star Crest Award? Challenge yourself to fly different exit positions and slots. Consult the Star Crest load organiser, who can assist in slotting you accordingly.

Aussie Bigway Skills and Event Guide

Refer to the Aussie Bigway Skills and Event Guide for clarity in minimum requirements for jumping Bigways.

This guide, compiled and written by Melissa Harvie, can be used to help set your goals in skydiving.  This guide is available on the Aussie Bigway website.

Tunnel Coaching

A great way to improve specific skills is with quality one on one tunnel coaching.  To locate quality coaches that are available to you, contact your State Mentor.

Tunnel Events

Join in on tunnel events such as 4way scramble meets and 8way coached events.

These events are fully organized and a great way to meet and greet like minded skydivers.

Canopy Courses

Sign up for canopy and CRW courses to provide greater confidence flying in larger groups.  As we all know, canopy skills are a necessity for bigger group skydives.  Give everyone confidence that we all can show consistent predictable activity under canopy.

Bigway Events

Sign up for Bigway events around Australia to practice exits, diving, and tracking in groups. Understand and learn the P3 methodology of jumping Bigways before you attend those events. Stretch yourselves to learn new exit positions and slots within Bigway formations. The Bigways are coached events, so it is easy to seek assistance and guidance from your Bigway coaches.

P3 Bigway Camps

Plan to attend P3 Bigway Camp and 100way Event in Perris Valley, California in the next year. These events are planned and organized by the P3 Bigways team.  This is where you will learn how to master jumping Bigways from multiple aircraft.
