The momentum is unstoppable now and Perris 2019 is very real!

A ‘vigour’ of Victorians had a great catch-up night in St Kilda to chat about some of the things they want to know, or need to know, before heading to California. There were some Perris virgins in the room and some who’ve been 2 or 3 times before. The bottom line is, we’ll all be equal in the eyes of the P3 team when we arrive next May, so we all need to help each other prepare.

We started off with 150 carefully counted Chicos, and some of the guys placed them into a decent formation, based on the 2015 record. A few Chicos were lost in the process, but the idea was to think about zippers and lines and the importance of angles as the formation builds out from the centre. Plus we had a sugar fix to keep us going through the rest of the night.

We went through ways of getting ‘Travel’ ready, such as passports, holiday plans, ESTA applications, shuttles etc. We talked through being ‘Gear’ ready for the event, with careful canopy selection, tight pins and other important things to think through.

Most importantly, we chatted about being ‘Jump’ ready. It’s the right time to make a checklist of your goals, your plans for the weeks and months ahead, and things you need to try now – like weights – before getting over there and being overwhelmed by all the new experiences.

Most people will feel a bit under-done when they arrive in Perris. They’ll look at other, more experienced people and wish they could feel as confident. But, as is so often the case, the ‘confident’ ones will probably be a bit nervous themselves.

Make no mistake; 100+ people in the sky is a big thing. Much bigger than Star Crest weekends and 32-ways. Nothing is guaranteed. The risks are high. It’s a huge investment.

However, if everybody gets cracking on their own ‘Jump Ready’ checklist, we’ll be a much better team when we arrive in Perris. Yes, the two lead-up camps are a chance to learn and lock in skills before the record camp. But you’ll be better equipped to do that if you lift your own level of development now. You’ll also have a bit of time to recover if you suffer an injury or a financial setback.

We have a few things on the go as summer approaches. There are bigways planned for this coming weekend, as well as the Melbourne Cup weekend in November. Plus our summer Star Crest series kicks off on October 20. Woo Hoo! Bring it.
