WA Mentor Update December 2017
Big, Bigger Biggest
In preparation for the York Doug Forth Event, Rummy scheduled a couple of 10-way for Dayzzz events in October and November. This gave people an opportunity to get current and for some people, who really wanted to go to the Doug Forth event, to get their Star Crests. It was great to see Andrej Percic in his new bright Buzz Lightyear jumpsuit, Steve Baker taking to boosters and Graham (Cookie) Cook joining in and flying without his wingsuit. I’ve always said that it is possible to teach old dogs new tricks.
Whilst the old dogs were learning the new tricks, we also had some eager new pups wanting to get their Star Crests to be a part of the big December event. Dale Willey, Alex Clapin and Molly Gillfilan all managed to get their Star Crest within days of the December event commencing. It was terrific to see all three of them fly so well during the Doug Forth event and I was sorry when Molly and Alex had to leave before the end of the event due to work commitments.
I won’t say too much about the Doug Forth event as Rummy will be writing something in the New Year, but what I will say is congratulations to all those people who were on the State Sequential Record dives. There were two groups of 17 who attempted initially a 2 point dive and then a 3 point dive and, whilst we are waiting for the records to be ratified, achieved them in fine fashion.
I was so happy to see so many smiling faces as they achieved each new milestone – largest formation, multiple plane formations, state records. Many of the skydivers on this event had less than 500 jumps and some less than 200 jumps. A special mention goes to Iris Golles who did her 100th jump on a 2 point 13 way, had her birthday and then on the last day of the event was part of a 2 point and 3 point 17-way State Sequential Record and finished the event as part of a complete 30 way. Thanks to The APF Fi Fund, the WAPC, all the sponsors, the photographers Fitch, Spot and Stu Barton. Just a little teaser of the Doug Forth York event produced by Stu Barton.
Rummy and I will be looking at our schedules for 2018 and encourage you all to get involved and plan for the next P3 Downunder Event that is planned for October at Toogs.
