VIC Mentor Update – September 2016

VIC Mentor Update - September 2016

It has been the wettest winter weather on record for a long time, despite which Victorian skydivers continue to rock up to the various Drop Zones and take every opportunity to get airborne.

It was all about the brothers McMahon Lachy and Will at Nagambie for the Star Crest weekend in August with 2 teams taking to the skies one led by Christian Peric and one by myself.

Thanks to Swanee and Borat for camera as well as Borat’s assistance to complete the 8 ways.  Congratulations to Lachy and Will on achieving their Star Crests with some quality points for each team.  All the best to Greg Hill who returned to the air a great effort to attend.

Some previous practice the day before saw the 8 way team snaffle Tom and take out a couple of nearly exits.  We will get there!!!!

Commandos skydivers enjoyed a day of flat skills once the cloud cleared and the wind subsided with some great 4, 5 & 7 way dives all turing points and showing good Bigway discipline.  Standout Steve Bowman who is working towards nailing his Star Crest gets my vote for soaking up the information and executing it.

The opportunity to share Melissa Harvie Bigway skills has been extremely rewarding and I would encourage anyone to speak to Melissa about the opportunities.

Barwon Heads is gearing up for the commencement of the star crest series staring in October, prior to that Relworkers is organising the 4W4E comp on the 10 Sept

Nagambie has a full schedule including a fun four way scrambles comp on the 24 Sept.

There are regular skills days being held usually the last weekend of the month at Commandos which I have been assisting with.  Keep an eye on the calendar as Victorian skydivers gear up for the spring weather.

Cheers J9
